The best way to learn geography is to travel and the best way to understand people is to meet them in their own homes. When we travel, we accumulate fresh ideas and experiences, discover new things, and gain knowledge about the world. That is why, to understand Slovak culture better  and get new impressions, Placement Slovakia organized a trip for our Erasmus interns to two historical places of Slovakia - Trenčín, and Trnava.

It is known that Slovakia has the world’s highest number of castles, let alone, one of them is located in Trencin, which is located on a mountain above the city. Trenčín Castle – a dominant feature of the city of Trenčín and the entire region of Považie and belongs to the most extensive castles in Europe.

Moreover, we couldn’t miss Trnava, one of Slovakia's oldest and most important cities. With a population of 65 000 inhabitants, it is known as a student city as there are 3 Universities, and the majority are students. It is the seventh biggest city in Slovakia.

So, together with interns we:

  • visited Trencin castle;
  • walked around Christmas markets in Trenčín, and Trnava;
  • played board games during our lunchtime;
  • enjoyed a night city view of Trnava. It was an opportunity to get to know each other and have a good time.

Few words from our interns about this trip:

Kateryna, Ukraine, Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics

One day - two cities. Both of them are not so big, that’s why we had enough time to explore them. Nevertheless, they have their souls and vibes, so unique and authentic. In the evening, Trenčin and Trnava enchanted us with Christmas markets. All thanks to PlacementSlovakia for the organization. You are incredible people. What I can say is it was amazing.“

Yordan, Bulgaria, University of Vienna

“Last week Placement Slovakia organized an excursion to two not-so-known among the most European but charming towns in our host country - Trenčín and Trnava. Both places gave us the warmth of the locals and many wonderful sceneries as a gift. The sights visited during the day prove to us the great history of the Slovak nation and let us capture its unique cultural and architectural achievements in our minds. So much and so little I've seen for only a Saturday - now I am passionate about exploring the whole country!”

Andela, Serbian, PIM University in Banja Luka

“My first train trip to Trencin was amazing. Trencin is not so big a city, but with a huge castle overlooking the beautiful landscapes of nature. The museum is full of historical sights and an interesting trip to the very top of the castle. The castle is a vast expanse, beautiful nature and interesting games that people have had fun with in the past.

Then follows the next stop in Trnava, with the great Christmas markets and the oldest church in all of Bratislava. We also climbed the Town Towel for a beautiful view of the city center, which is beautifully decorated because of the New Year's euphoria. All in all, it wouldn't be all that great without a fun atmosphere in society.”

Do not stand gaping, but get the opportunity to spend a good weekend with Placement Slovakia!
