Spanish and Italian students about their Erasmus experience: two interns, one shared journey
For Cristobal Roldan from Academia Marco in Spain and Edoardo Faro from Università Telematica Pegaso in Italy, an Erasmus+ internship at the number one PC vendor worldwide was more than just a line on their CVs—it was a transformative experience full of hands-on learning, personal growth, and cross-cultural connection. Though they held different roles and came from different academic backgrounds, their journeys shared a common thread: growth through real-world experience.
Different roles - shared growth
Cristobal joined the company as a Logistics Intern, where he was responsible for supervising the return of defective parts across Europe. His focus was on operational efficiency, improving processes, and learning technical tools. "I improved my Excel skills, learned how to use AI tools, and gained a strong understanding of logistics chains," he said. His biggest challenge? “Learning Excel—it was tough at first, but worth it.”
In contrast, Edoardo worked as a Customer Care Specialist, managing technical cases and escalating the complex ones. He developed communication and teamwork skills, while becoming familiar with the company's internal systems. “The most difficult part was dealing with end users, but I learned how to manage pressure and work with international teams,” he shared.
While Cristobal found his passion in process optimization, Edoardo appreciated the autonomy in his daily routine. “I could manage my time freely, which gave me a great sense of responsibility.”
Workplace environment and support
Both interns praised their mentors and teams. “The team was always there when I needed help,” - Edoardo shared. Guys have highlighted how their workplaces encouraged learning, collaboration, and personal growth, which made even the difficult days manageable.
Life in Slovakia: discoveries and differences
Outside the office, Slovakia offered each of them something unique. Cristobal loved the country’s central location, which made weekend travel to neighboring countries easy and affordable. Edoardo noted the kindness of Slovak people and the care they show for their environment.
Both students enjoyed spending time with fellow interns and exploring new places. While Cristobal pointed out the difference in mealtime culture between Slovakia and Spain, Edoardo appreciated the work-life balance Slovakia offered.
Looking Ahead
Cristobal plans to return to Spain to continue his studies, while Edoardo is awaiting completing his Master’s in Cybersecurity.
Final advice for future interns
Cristobal’s tip is practical: “If you come in winter, bring heavy clothes—it gets cold!”
Edoardo encourages a learning mindset: “Come ready to grow and embrace new challenges.”
Different roles, different paths—but thanks to Placement Slovakia, Cristobal and Edoardo shared an unforgettable journey of growth. For both of them, Slovakia became the perfect stepping stone from student life to the real working world.
