From Intern to Full-Time Analyst: Bohdan’s Erasmus+ Success Story
Bohdan Dankevych, a student from Kyiv National Economic University in Ukraine, had the incredible opportunity to do his internship as an Accounts Payable Analyst in Bratislava, Slovakia.
During his internship, Bohdan’s daily responsibilities included verifying invoices, resolving discrepancies, processing reimbursements, and collaborating with procurement and payment teams. As he reflected, "since this was my first full-time job, mostly everything was new for me. I learned SAP and other tools used by the company and improved my Excel skills."
One of the highlights of Bohdan’s experience was the strong support he received from his mentor and colleagues. He appreciated their guidance, saying, "the overall support from my managers and colleagues has been outstanding. They provided invaluable guidance, helping me navigate challenges and grow professionally at my first workplace." He also noted the welcoming atmosphere in the workplace, which helped him adapt quickly.
The most enjoyable aspect of his work life, according to Bohdan, was learning new tools and programs, as well as collaborating with his colleagues. On the flip side, he humorously remarked that the most challenging part was “waking up at 7 AM to be in the office on time.”
Beyond the professional environment, Bohdan was fascinated by Slovakia's natural beauty and its cultural differences compared to Ukraine. He found the country’s landscapes captivating and noticed unique traditions, particularly during holidays. In his free time, Bohdan managed to combine studying with some travel, exploring different European countries with friends, which further enriched his cultural experience.
Bohdan’s journey wasn’t without initial concerns. He was worried about balancing his studies with a full-time job but found that his company was supportive. "I was concerned about balancing my studies with a full-time job… However, everything turned out well. The company was understanding, allowing me to manage my time effectively," he explained.
As a recommendation to future trainees, Bohdan advises: "Embrace every opportunity to learn and grow during your internship. Take the initiative to engage with your colleagues, ask questions, and seek feedback to enhance your skills."
Looking ahead, Bohdan’s future looks bright. He was offered a full-time position and will be staying in Bratislava for a longer period to continue his professional journey. Congratulations, Bohdan, on securing this exciting opportunity! Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and we wish you all the best in your future career!
