Olha Melnyk, a student at Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics in Ukraine, recently completed a successful Erasmus+ internship as a Spare Parts Logistics Intern. Olha gained valuable experience in logistics, communication, and teamwork in an international environment, that helped her a lot to receive a full-time job in a top global company.

Olha's internship involved a variety of tasks "Monitoring and reporting KPIs, daily exception management with carriers, supporting with ad-hoc customs documents creation, maintaining and updating PUDO mapping for non-direct shipments for countries all across the Core EMEA region, daily claim management, performing cost-saving calculations, communication with internal and external stakeholders"
Olha consistently received exceptional support from both her mentor and colleagues. "My colleagues were always extremely supportive," she emphasizes. Also, the most enjoyable aspect of her internship was interacting with colleagues and external partners. While the workload could be challenging at times, she found it to be a stimulating learning experience.
"I was concerned about whether I could manage to work in a huge corporation without the relevant working experience in logistics and fully in English. Eventually, everything turned out perfect"
Beyond work, Olha found Slovakia's active culture fascinating. "Slovak people are extremely active," she observes, "they enjoy running, hiking, and cycling. They are always out and about on weekends, and there are always interesting events happening." She joined this culture and spent her free time very actively "Sports, traveling, meeting with friends, attending interesting events, exploring Bratislava and learning Slovak language and culture"
Olha is really satisfied with the positive internship experience facilitated by our Placement Slovakia. She also highlights the following "I absolutely love the company I worked for, the team, and the possibility to travel and find new friends"
For future interns, Olha advises not to be afraid. "No to be afraid. Everyone is very supportive and helpful. New coming trainees can be sure that they will be welcomed warmly" she assures them.
With her internship complete, Olha is excited to embark on her new role in the company. Her Erasmus+ experience has not only equipped her with valuable skills and knowledge but has also opened doors to exciting career opportunities.
